TVA - Loki
After watching the Loki Series, I got inspired to try and recreate the TVA. I was pretty satisfied with the result, and it pushed me to learn a lot in the process! Entirely modeled in Maya, textured in Substance Painter and rendered in Unreal Engine 5
To make this project I had to gather a ton of reference images from the show. Since when I started there were only 2 episodes out, I had to also get some reference images from the first season. From then I started modeling everything using the actors height and trying to match as closely as possible to the references.
For props I’ve modeled some generic office props, whatever I could find from the references, and scattered them around the scene
The floor had a very specific design and it was important to get it right, so I made my own Substance Designer material in order to get the correct look, that way I could get the necessary parameters to change the roughness and color of the all the floor elements.
After that I just had to recreate the logo in Adobe Illustrator and project it into the floor texture, using a different background color for it.
For the infinite hallway look, I’ve duplicated the set, each one with less geo and detail, for better performance, and applied a bend deformer, to get the curved look
And finally, for the best render look I chose to go with Path Tracing on Unreal Engine, it’s a very clear difference between the two, so I think the longer render was definitely worth it! After adding some film grain and correcting the color, I got to an image that closer resembled the show
